I usually loathe to side with any celebrity that is not a real celebrity (athlete).
However here, I don’t see what the hell these people have a problem with. If they don’t like it look away.
If they don’t want to look away, I hope that gerbil murdering richard gere makes is publicly known that he will not financially support any charities in india and urges other actors to do the same-
We’ll see how quickly they change thier tune.

It is against their culture. Do you have a problem with that? I think that Gere was completely wrong in what he did. If he honestly didn’t know that it was against their culture and he gave her a kiss on the cheek, I would understand more. But he just kept going!
And also, are you saying that the only real celebrities are athletes? Or, are you saying that athletes aren’t real celebrities? I’m guessing the latter, in which case, who do you hate siding with in this situtation? Richard Gere is not an athlete and therefore, why would you hate siding with him.

Honestly I know what its like to be brought up in a strict culture I’m asian and What the Indian public saw Gere do was a big deal to them yes but i feel they are taking it way too far with the burning of effigies and calling for his death and arrest. It is true Gere should have acted better as a representative for the AIDS awareness but come on arrest? Lets say that there is a country and everyone greets eachother with a kiss and thats the law and someone from India goes there and refuses to greet people as the law commands are we going to send him to jail and burn effigies. they’re making something out of nothing
