I know this guy who says that ever since Wesley Snipes was arrested for tax evasion and fraud, he was “absolutely disgusted” and went like, “I refuse to watch any of his movies again.”
I have lady friend who said that she refused to watch Tom Cruise movies ever since he appeared on the Today Show and debated with Matt Lauer about prescription drug treatment for postpartum depression, saying that sufferers should only “take vitamins and complete a set of exercises”
I, personally, find it hard to cease watching anyone’s movies if they should screw up in their personal lives.
Who is in the moral? Someone who banishes Wesley Snipes/Tom Cruise films, or someone who doesn’t?

“Boycotting” a celebrity’s movie, CD, etc. is a way of showing one’s disapproval of their lifestyle.
On the flip side of your question… Why do some people WANT to patronize a celebrity when they “screw up?”

hey, dont trash the movie cos of the celebrity! just trash the celebrity!
and no- if i love the movie, i love themovie- i dont care whos in it (although it does help me choose if i wanna see the movie- but thats not the point)

I’m not sure. If I like someone, I am watching their movies regardless. What they do in their personal life shouldn’t interfere with their movies. If you like them as actors, why not watch their movies?

I wouldnt stop watching someones movies for things like what Wesley or Tom did.
If they did something completley terrible like murdered or raped someone then I might.

I think that people conjure up some lovely image of what a person is.
When they hear something negative…they have a hard time seeing past it. I too cannot watch Tom Cruise. He is a freak. I refuse to support him by watching his movies and in turn supporting his freak church.
I have certain beliefs that I just cannot compromise. Anyone who spreads such lies as the church of scientology should not be supported.
I think that celebrities would be really smart if they kept their beliefs to themselves instead of shouting from the roof tops! Oprah shot herself in the foot when she started with the whole new age thing. Her viewing audience was impacted significantly by losing her Christian viewers.
In a nutshell…..celebrities DO make mistakes. I can overlook mistakes but CANNOT overlook others such as religious beliefs that are LIES. The spread of the LIES is what troubles me.
