Uncle Kracker Arrested for Sexual Offense

Musician Uncle Kracker, who is most known for his hit “Follow Me” in 1999, was arrested today on a second-degree forcible sex offense charge, authorities said. Jim Sughrue, a spokesman for Raleigh Police says a 26 year old woman claims Uncle Kracker committed a sex act against her in a downtown nightclub. Kracker was later arrested in a nearby hotel and held in Wake County jail on $5 Million dollars bond.

Kracker, whose real name is Matthew Shafer will stand before a judge this afternoon, says Wake County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Phyllis Stevens. In 2004 Kracker recorded a #1 country hit with Kenny Chesney titled “When the Sun Goes Down”, the two still occasionally tour together to this day.

The arrest came just hours after Wayne (real name: Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.) made what he labeled his Big Apple debut with a raucous show at the Beacon Theatre. A New York Police Department spokesperson said that Wayne’s tour bus was pulled over at around 11:30 p.m. After searching the vehicle, police arrested the rapper for criminal possession of a weapon — a .40 caliber pistol — and another man on the bus for criminal possession of marijuana. Police identified the man charged with drug possession as Brooklyn native Derrick Lawrence. It was unknown at press time what his relationship is to the rapper. Both men were awaiting an appearance before a judge at press time. According to a source close to Wayne, the rapper has a permit for the gun.

During his show on Sunday night — which featured a heavy police presence — Wayne made comments from the stage about being hassled by police prior to his set, and threatened not to perform in New York again.

JANUARY 28, Get Down James Brown! was arrested today on a domestic violence charge after allegedly pushing his wife to the floor during an argument at the couple’s South Carolina home. The 70-year-old singer was nabbed by deputies with the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office who responded to a 911 call apparently placed by 33-year-old Tomi Rea Brown. The woman suffered “scratches and bruises to her right arm and hip” during the bedroom dispute, according to investigators. Brown, who has a well-known history of arrests and bizarre behavior, was booked into the local lockup, where the below mug shots were taken. Last July, Brown took out an ad in “Variety” to announce that he and his wife had made a “mutual show business decision” to “go their separate ways.” It is unclear whether that anticipated separation and/or divorce has occurred.
